The Grand Strzelecki Track opened in 2012. It covers 110 km through Tarra-Bulga National Park, Morwell National Park, and private and Crown land in Gippsland, Victoria. The route passes through stunning and varied scenery, with unique wildlife such as the Freshwater Cray and the South Gippsland Spiny Cray.

Walk the loops
Mount Tassie Loop
Kevin Moss (YouTube: Goin’ Feral), November 2025. Kevin walks clockwise from the Tarra-Bulga National Park Visitor Centre, over Mount Tassie and back through the Duff Sawmill Heritage Trail. He talks about the changing country, a fair bit of climbing and some very “leechy” sections. Along the way he meets a snake and some waterfalls.

Tarra Valley Loop
Finn Dunn (Fruitless Adventures) and his partner walked the Tarra Valley Loop over two days. Finn captured some beautiful scenery, along with steep terrain, wet weather and a few leeches. Thank you, Finn.
Tarra Valley Loop: day 1 of 2
Kevin Moss (Goin’ Feral), May 2026. Kevin walks anticlockwise from the Tarra-Bulga National Park Visitor Centre, starting on the same track as the Mount Tassie Loop before heading south into Tarra Valley. It’s a wet, “leechy” day, and a roadworks closure on Tarra Valley Road stops his planned food drop. The day ends in a cabin by a wood fire.
Tarra Valley Loop: day 2 of 2
Kevin sets off early from the caravan park on Tarra Valley Road and climbs to Diaper Track. The weather is kinder, with waterfalls and glimpses of distant views before he gets back to the start. Kevin is a keen hiker. He blogged about his adventures in Australia and around the world from 2014 to 2023, and now makes YouTube videos. Thank you, Kevin.
Park to park
Tarra-Bulga to Morwell National Park, with the Mount Tassie Loop
Dave Mann, a Latrobe Valley local, walked from Tarra-Bulga National Park to Morwell National Park, with the Mount Tassie Loop, in February 2020. It was a solo hike over two days, covering 51 km. Thank you, Dave.

Inaugural open day: day two
Day two of the track’s inaugural open day.
Macks Creek Crossing 2 by ATV, February 2022
On 24 February 2022, after two big storms, we inspected the Wild Cherry Track. Parks Victoria had cleared their section to the southern access gate, but our section beyond it was blocked by fallen trees. We made a 200 m diversion and carried on past crossings 1 and 2 to crossing 3, where we couldn’t get across.
